What do we want?

Every day 30,000 children die as a result of extreme poverty. This shameful situation must end. If we have the will to act we can Make Poverty History.

Make Poverty History is a non-partisan coalition of more than 60 aid organisations, community and faith-based groups. We call on all political parties to take the following steps needed to achieve the Millennium Development Goals:

• increase Australia's aid and ensure it is used effectively
• make trade fair
• drop the debts of poor countries
• help poor countries keep their governments accountable, and
• tackle climate change in developing countries.

Make Poverty History needs your voice. Join the millions of people in Australia and around the world who are taking action to Make Poverty History.

Create to Advocate Explore, Imagine, Create, Explore a world where poverty is history. Artists are invited to ‘speak up’ on behalf of those in poverty and ‘speak out’ against injustice. Create an artwork that expresses your vision to end global poverty. Works can be in any medium. Entries close Friday 29 August. Find out more about this exciting art competition and exhibition here.
