Pledge of support Reducing child mortality and improving maternal health are two of the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In Southeast Asia and the Pacific, 16 of the 22 developing countries in the region are NOT on track to achieve Goal 4, a two-thirds reduction in child mortality. Seven countries are NOT on track to achieve Goal 5, reduce maternal mortality by three-quarters.
